Vonage has won a Merit Award for Business for its Identity Insights API in the Business Technology category.

The product uses mobile network data to help businesses identify fraud risks and support compliance checks. It draws on signals including SIM swap detection and subscriber matching against mobile operator know-your-customer records.

The award highlights a market in which companies are under pressure to reduce online fraud without adding friction for customers during sign-up and account access. Vonage positions the API as part of that effort, using carrier-based identity information in real time.

Identity Insights is part of the Vonage Protection Suite, which also includes Fraud Defender and the Verify API with Silent Authentication. The tools can be deployed separately or together, depending on how companies structure fraud prevention and identity verification.

The API is intended to help businesses address account takeover, onboarding fraud and the use of synthetic identities. It can also lower operating costs and improve conversion rates by reducing manual checks and failed authentication processes.

The wider backdrop is a sharp rise in digital fraud. Vonage cited industry figures showing fraud losses exceeded $10 trillion in 2025 and that one in five consumers experienced account takeover in the past year.

The Merit Awards for Business, established in 2022, recognises organisations for business innovation and corporate performance. Winners are selected by a panel of journalists, consultants, executives, entrepreneurs and educators.

Christophe Van de Weyer, president and head of business unit API at Vonage, said the award reflected how businesses are using mobile network signals to improve trust in digital transactions.

"We are honored to be recognized by the Merit Awards for Business for the impact Vonage Identity Insights is making for enterprises and their customers," said Christophe Van de Weyer, president and head of business unit API at Vonage.

"This recognition highlights Vonage's leadership in advancing network powered intelligence for fraud prevention and compliance - drawing on a broad set of real-time signals sourced directly from the network, including SIM Swap detection and Subscriber Match for KYC. By making these carrier-grade capabilities accessible through a single, developer-friendly API, we are enabling enterprises to build more secure, trusted, and frictionless digital experiences," he said.

The judges said the award reflected Vonage's position in business technology and the practical application of communications and network tools in corporate settings.

"In today's fast-paced corporate environment, business technology is defined by how effectively organizations can turn advanced innovation into scalable, real-world impact," said Marie Zander, executive director of the Merit Awards.

"Vonage's win in the 2026 Business Merit Awards highlights its exceptional leadership in this space. By consistently delivering cutting-edge, AI-powered cloud communications and network tools, Vonage is reshaping how global enterprises connect and operate. We are proud to recognize it as an organization setting new standards of excellence and driving meaningful progress across the business community," Zander said.

Vonage is part of Ericsson and operates within its global communications platform business area. Its product portfolio includes network APIs, cloud communications, contact centre software and unified communications services.
