Boost Mobile has expanded its prepaid range on the Full Telstra Prepaid Mobile Network, including a new AUD $180 six-month SIM plan with 160GB of data.

The updated range also increases data on selected plans, adds international calls to the AUD $365 12-month plan, and lifts data allowances across roaming packs from AUD $20. Prices on its most popular plans will remain unchanged, while the AUD $13 and AUD $26 prepaid plans will rise in price with added data.

The new six-month offer includes 160GB on new activations, equivalent to about 26GB a month over the term. On the next recharge, the same plan drops to 100GB. It includes unlimited standard national calls and texts, plus international calls and texts for use in Australia.

All seven-day and 28-day plans now include boosted data on the first three recharges, alongside higher core data allowances. Boost positioned the changes as part of a broader push to appeal to consumers reviewing household spending.

Cost pressure on telecoms bills formed part of the backdrop to the announcement. New figures cited from WeMoney show 45% of Australians are spending more than AUD $100 a month on mobile services, while 50% believe they are overpaying.

The same data suggests that price sensitivity is driving switching intentions. According to WeMoney, 82% of Australians are actively looking to reduce household bills, and 72% are considering changing mobile provider within the next 12 months.

That sits alongside apparent inertia in the market. Research previously conducted on behalf of Boost found 46% of Australians have stayed with the same mobile provider for more than three years, while 7% have never switched.

Awards context

The launch comes as Boost received WeMoney's 2026 Prepaid Provider of the Year award. It also won Best for Flexibility - Prepaid Mobile Plan for the second year in a row and was a finalist in several other categories.

WeMoney said its audience ranked price and value as the most important factors when choosing a provider, with 96% rating them highest. Coverage and speed followed at 86%.

Boost operates on the Full Telstra Prepaid Mobile Network, a point it has emphasised as it competes in the prepaid market. It has framed the latest changes around longer expiry options, data allowances, and simpler switching for consumers seeking lower monthly outgoings.

Bobby Geldens, Chief Executive Officer of Boost Mobile Australia, linked the offer changes to household budgets.

"Australians are being forced to make tough choices right now, but staying connected shouldn't be one of them. With people actively looking for ways to cut costs, mobile is one of the easiest wins. With Boost, you can switch in minutes, keep your number, and instantly start saving with access to the full Telstra Prepaid Mobile Network," he said.

He said the product range had been built around current usage patterns.

"We've built our range of plans around how Australians actually use their phones today, with high data usage, flexibility, and control over spending," Geldens said.

On pricing and data, he added: "Boost is delivering more value with more data and keeping prices as sharp as possible."

Switching behaviour

Mobile churn has become a key issue for operators and resellers as customers reassess recurring bills. In that context, the gap between the number of people saying they may switch and those who have remained with one provider for years points to persistent friction in consumer behaviour.

Boost argues those barriers are lower than many customers assume, particularly as number porting and eSIM reduce the need for store visits or waiting periods. The company is using that message to target consumers who may not have reviewed their plan recently.

Geldens said external recognition from WeMoney reflected that approach.

"To be named Prepaid Provider of the Year and Best for Flexibility by WeMoney is a huge endorsement of what we are trying to do by giving Australians more control, more data and better value when they need it most. Consumers want straightforward, affordable mobile plans with excellent coverage and performance that work for them," he said.

He also addressed the reluctance some customers still feel about moving providers.

"There's this old idea that switching telcos is painful, but that couldn't be further from the truth today. With number porting and eSIM, you can move in minutes. No store visits, no waiting, no downtime. It's fast, it's seamless, and it puts control back in the hands of the customer," Geldens said.
