PowerX unveils AI tool to automate tower maintenance
PowerX has launched PowerX AI Maintenance, a software product that automates maintenance planning and dispatch across mobile tower networks using an AI-based workflow optimiser and scheduler.
The product targets tower companies that manage large telecoms site portfolios and face rising operating costs and tighter service level agreements. Maintenance teams often juggle unplanned faults, preventative work and limited field resources, while many organisations still rely on spreadsheets, messaging apps and separate operational systems.
As a result, dispatch teams may lack a complete view of technician availability, location, skills and parts. Fault diagnostics can also arrive late or incomplete, increasing mean time to repair, reducing first-time fix rates and driving repeat visits. Missed SLAs can lead to financial penalties and customer dissatisfaction.
Workflow Engine
PowerX AI Maintenance uses an AI-optimised scheduler that scans jobs across a tower network and assigns technicians based on skills, availability and location. It also factors in parts and inventory during assignment.
PowerX describes the product as a workflow optimiser and scheduler that identifies which maintenance jobs need to be done across a network, then reacts to changing conditions by re-optimising schedules in real time. The aim is to reduce manual scheduling and improve the consistency of dispatch decisions.
The product includes mobile workforce management, real-time analytics and integration between maintenance workflows and parts and inventory management. PowerX positions it as a way to connect teams and tools that often sit in separate systems across the maintenance lifecycle.
Operational Focus
In the tower sector, maintenance spans planned inspections, corrective repairs and upgrades driven by tenant requirements. Field work can depend on site access, safety checks and the availability of specific parts. These constraints can shift during the day as faults are reported and priorities change.
PowerX says PowerX AI Maintenance re-optimises schedules automatically as conditions change, including shifts in field constraints and work priorities. It also says the scheduler assigns the right technician and inventory at the right time based on its optimisation logic.
The product is part of PowerX's broader software offering for tower operators. PowerX describes itself as a SaaS provider for tower networks and an AI optimisation software provider for the telco tower industry.
Platform Claims
PowerX says the release expands its data intelligence platform and calls it the only end-to-end platform built for tower operations, from monitoring through to field execution. The wider platform covers monitoring, optimisation, maintenance and management.
Beyond telecoms infrastructure, PowerX also markets its platform for portfolio maintenance, power solutions and minigrids. The company says its software learns baseline behaviour across assets and networks, predicts risk and performance outcomes, and coordinates action from upstream monitoring through to field execution.
Customer Access
PowerX AI Maintenance is available to new and existing customers. It can be purchased as a standalone product or as part of the wider PowerX platform.
The launch comes as tower companies seek tighter control of operating expenditure while maintaining network uptime. Maintenance is a significant component of ongoing site costs, particularly as portfolios expand and equipment ages. Operators and tower owners also face pressure to deliver consistent service quality, which often depends on the speed and success rate of field repairs.
PowerX Chief Executive Andrew Schafer said the product addresses long-standing operational issues in tower maintenance.
"Maintenance in the tower industry has been held back for years by static schedules, manual processes and disconnected tools," said Andrew Schafer, CEO, PowerX. "PowerX AI Maintenance changes that completely. We've built a product that applies AI where it actually matters - optimising decision-making, resultant workflows and customer outcomes at scale. This is about automating analysis and processes, ensuring that the right work is done at the right time by the right people. By leveraging PowerX's advanced technology, performance can be significantly improved, delivering rapid results and competitive advantage."
