Optus teams with Devo for new managed threat monitoring service
Optus has announced the launch of a new Managed Threat Monitoring Service for enterprise and mid-market customers in partnership with Devo Technology. This service aims to enhance the security posture of organisations through the use of real-time analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and intelligent automation provided by Devo's Security Data Platform.
The platform is designed to achieve real-time visibility of potential and emerging network threats, leveraging cutting-edge technology to identify and detect these threats. It operates 24/7 alongside the Optus Network Operation Centre and Security Operation Centre, offering expert-managed services and insights around the clock.
According to Optus, the Managed Threat Monitoring Service is a response to the increasing prevalence of cyberattacks. Data from the Australian Cyber Security Centre showed a 23% rise in cybercrime reports during the 2022-2023 financial year compared to the previous year. As threats proliferate, Optus aims to provide robust solutions to keep Australian businesses protected.
Danny Price, Vice President of Delivery for Enterprise and Business at Optus, stated, "Optus is proud to call a number of Australia's largest organisations and government agencies customers. We know how critical cybersecurity continues to be and the importance of continuing to invest in new technology particularly as the threat landscape continues to evolve. Optus partners with many of the best security vendors in the world to ensure our enterprise customers have the support they need to act quickly and identify threats."
The new service integrates several sophisticated security technologies, including Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), and User and Entity Behaviour Analytics (UEBA). These technologies work together through AI and machine learning (ML) to correlate and analyse logs from network-connected devices and global threat intelligence.
Once the platform detects potential threats, it creates security alert tickets in Optus' AI-enabled IT Service Management (ITSM) Nucleus platform. These tickets are prioritised and triaged by Optus' Security Operation Centre, which operates 24/7. The centre then uses automation to deploy specific countermeasures swiftly.
Discussing the capabilities of the new service, Price added, "We are excited to be partnering with Devo and their innovative technology to provide our enterprise customers with Optus' Managed Threat Monitoring Service. It's an incredible platform to add to our already strong security portfolio and supports the team of experts, who work around the clock here in Australia to provide the best care to Australia's business."
Nicky Choo, Vice President for APAC at Devo, commented on the importance of such partnerships in combating cyber threats. "As the global threat landscape continues to expand at an unprecedented pace, it's critical that organisations have the right technology, people, and processes in place to combat cybercrime and keep their businesses safe. By working with partners such as Optus, our shared customers are able to get the most out of the Devo Security Data Platform and can rest assured that a team of experts is helping them achieve their security goals."
