Dell enhances NativeEdge for AI deployment at the edge

Wed, 13th Nov 2024

Dell Technologies has introduced updates to its Dell NativeEdge software to enhance edge workload resilience by providing secure, high-availability clustering for NativeEdge Endpoints.

These updates are aimed at simplifying operations and automating AI deployments at scale across various environments, such as retail and utilities.

Key features include high-availability capabilities featuring multinode clustering for Dell hardware endpoints, including PowerEdge servers, OptiPlex, and Precision workstations, along with Dell Gateways.

NativeEdge AI Software is integrated to meet growing demands, enabling secure device onboarding, remote management, and multi-cloud orchestration. Additionally, new software integrations support organisations in deploying AI-enhanced solutions. This includes open-source tools like Apache SparkTM and MLflow, and partnerships with companies such as Aveva and EPIC iO for specific use cases in city infrastructure and retail operations, respectively.

Dell Services assist organisations in designing and implementing custom NativeEdge Blueprints. These services aim to support seamless deployment using the Dell NativeEdge software, ensuring that businesses can manage their AI applications and infrastructure more efficiently.

Gil Shneorson, Senior Vice President, Solutions and Platforms at Dell Technologies, stated, "AI is accelerating new edge workloads and opportunities at an unprecedented rate, and organisations across industries are asking for simpler and more reliable ways to use AI at the edge.

Our NativeEdge expansion automates the deployment and management of edge AI workloads, with features to support business continuity, so organisations can continually use the latest AI advancements at the edge to drive revenues and positive customer outcomes."

Keith Bradley, Vice President of Information Technology at Nature Fresh Farms, commented, "With over 1,000 IoT-enabled facilities, Dell NativeEdge helps us monitor real-time infrastructure elements, ensuring optimal conditions for our produce and receive comprehensive insights into our produce packaging operations."

"Dell NativeEdge has enhanced our operational efficiencies and reduced costs, while supporting our continued growth and innovation in yield optimisation and environmental monitoring."

The advancements in Dell NativeEdge are expected to be available by January 2025. Current Dell NativeEdge customers can also opt to purchase and activate NVIDIA AI Enterprise licenses for NVIDIA GPUs directly from Dell, simplifying deployment and support for NativeEdge users.
