APhone teams up with Aethir for decentralised cloud services

Tue, 21st May 2024

A strategic partnership has been announced between APhone, reputed as the world’s first decentralised cloud smartphone, and Aethir, a distributed GPU cloud computing network. This collaboration is set to enhance the accessibility and decentralisation of full node deployment, offering significant advancements to both companies' user bases.

The partnership will see APhone's cutting-edge technology integrated with Aethir's decentralised cloud computing infrastructure. This integration aims to broaden the reach of Aethir’s network and significantly allow users to participate in its distributed cloud infrastructure. APhone users will benefit from an upcoming Aethir cloud drop, which includes a distribution of Aethir’s native token, ATH. In reciprocation, APhone will distribute 20,000 Access Passes to current Aethir node operators, granting them access to a DePIN-enabled smartphone.

Chief Business Officer at APhone, William Paul Peckham, commented, “Decentralisation is the future of mobile infrastructure, and Aethir perfectly complements our mission of bringing Web3 to the world. By giving the Aethir community access to APhone, we strengthen both ecosystems, helping to onboard new users to Web3 and making decentralised cloud infrastructure more powerful, secure, and robust than ever.”

APhone, known for its ability to run sophisticated Web3 applications and traditional apps on any web browser-compatible device, aims to enable users with greater mobile capabilities. The collaboration with Aethir is intended to utilise APhone's broad network of users to reinforce and scale Aethir’s decentralised network infrastructure. This alliance is also expected to make next-generation mobile internet services more accessible and cost-effective.

Aethir’s decentralised cloud network aims to solve inherent issues associated with traditional cloud services, such as high costs and limited scalability. By leveraging a global, decentralised network of nodes, Aethir offers infinitely scalable, high-performance cloud infrastructure essential for intensive applications like gaming and AI. Decentralised cloud infrastructure brings benefits such as enhanced standardisation, improved security, censorship resistance, and native payment support.

Daniel Wang, CEO of Aethir, expressed his optimism, stating, “APhone is revolutionary because it demonstrates that your device is no obstacle to accessing decentralised services and that any smartphone can actively contribute to strengthening the ecosystem. In the long term, there is a vision that APhone users will spearhead the rollout of a mobile DePIN node ecosystem.”

Earlier this year, Aethir conducted a highly successful Node Sale, raising US$60 million in just 30 minutes. Notably, the sale, which totalled US$120 million, did not rely on institutional capital, further reinforcing Aethir’s commitment to decentralisation and independence.

The collaboration between APhone and Aethir is set to mark a significant milestone in the world of decentralised technology, promising improved infrastructure, enhanced security, and greater accessibility for users globally. Both companies are poised to make substantial contributions to the rapidly evolving realm of Web3 and decentralised cloud computing.
