Yomojo expands Optus partnership to offer wider telecom suite

Thu, 5th Jun 2025

Yomojo has extended its wholesale mobile partnership with Optus for an additional three years, building on their existing ten-year relationship.

The expanded agreement allows Yomojo to continue providing mobile and fixed wireless (5G home) services, and to offer NBN access services across all 121 Points of Interconnect in Australia.

This arrangement enables Yomojo to deliver a one-stop telecom solution for its consumer, business, and wholesale customers by leveraging Optus' network capabilities. The inclusion of NBN services marks an expansion of the partnership to cover a full suite of telecommunications offerings.

The deal forms part of Yomojo's broader strategy to enhance its market position and expand its service portfolio. The company has set an ambition to reach 50,000 services by the end of 2027, aiming to increase its competitive stance within the residential telecommunications sector.

Yomojo's expanded partnership with Optus is considered a significant step in its growth plan, with the company looking to offer comprehensive telecom services in an increasingly competitive market.

James Linton, Chief Executive Officer of Yomojo, said: "Optus was the foundation on which Exetel was built. During the time my family owned the business, we were Optus' largest ADSL2+ and NBN customer. It made sense to engage with Optus on a new whole-of-business agreement that not only covers the legacy mobile and fixed wireless services Yomojo offers but also takes advantage of Optus' significant fixed broadband network."

Linton further stated: "Optus is Australia's first challenger telco, and I'm excited about the opportunity to work with the Optus Wholesale team to create the next major challenger telco. Having one supplier to provide Yomojo customers with both fixed wireless and NBN connectivity is a significant advantage."

The wholesale extension aligns with Optus' approach to expanding its presence in the telecommunications sector through partnerships with mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).

John Castro, Vice President Wholesale and Satellite at Optus, said, "Optus is pleased to partner with Yomojo to further expand choice within the MVNO space for Australian consumers.

"Our strategic partnership highlights the significant role Optus plays in Australia's wholesale telecommunications landscape, and we're committed to ensuring our partners have open access to the Optus mobile network through a sweeping range of products. We look forward to a long-term relationship with Yomojo, while also delivering exceptional services."

Earlier in 2024, Yomojo underwent a change in ownership, with James Linton—formerly Director Corporate at Exetel—becoming Chief Executive Officer. Following this transition, Yomojo conducted a review of all three major mobile networks in Australia and engaged with 14 NBN wholesalers to evaluate partnership options.

The company's decision to continue and expand its relationship with Optus was influenced by Linton's prior experience at Exetel, where Optus Wholesale was the main network partner. This familiarity guided Yomojo's strategy for future telecommunications service provision.

Through the extended agreement, Yomojo will leverage Optus' mobile and fixed broadband infrastructure to support growth targets and strengthen its service delivery in the Australian telecommunications market.
