VQ adds advanced conferencing controls in version 4.8

Thu, 16th Apr 2026

VQ Communications has launched VQ Conference Manager 4.8, its first product release of the year. The update adds the Advanced Conferencing Centre to the company's conferencing software and introduces a range of changes for organisations running complex conferencing environments.

VQ Conference Manager 4.8 adds operator-led controls through the Advanced Conferencing Centre, or ACC, for higher-stakes conferencing scenarios. It also updates unified conferencing workflows across on-premises and cloud services, and adds support for Microsoft Teams Rooms mode on Cisco devices in restricted environments.

Other additions include enhanced high availability with failover in less than 60 seconds, support for multi-cluster Cisco Meeting Server deployments, automated device certificate renewals, automated device backups, and scheduled device onboarding through pre-provisioning.

The release is aimed at customers that need tighter control over communications systems, particularly in government, defence, and other regulated settings where conferencing is treated as mission-critical infrastructure.

Operational focus

Several changes are intended to reduce manual administration for IT and conferencing teams. Support for multi-cluster Cisco Meeting Server deployments is designed to improve resilience while lowering administrative effort, while automation for certificate renewals and device backups simplifies routine maintenance.

Scheduled device onboarding also reflects a stronger focus on deployment management for organisations operating larger room estates or distributed conferencing networks. Support for Microsoft Teams Rooms mode on Cisco hardware suggests VQ is responding to demand for interoperability in environments where technology choices are constrained by policy or infrastructure requirements.

VQ Communications develops self-hosted conferencing software for Cisco-based infrastructure. It says it has worked in secure video conferencing for more than 20 years and serves customers in government, defence, healthcare, and other sectors with strict operational requirements.

According to information included with the announcement, VQ Communications is also a Cisco SolutionsPlus partner and is listed on the US Department of Defence Approved Products List.

Customer demand

The latest release comes as organisations place greater scrutiny on communications resilience, administrative control, and where collaboration systems are hosted. That has sustained demand for self-managed platforms in sectors where sovereignty, reliability, and operational oversight are especially important.

Jon English, Vice President Product at VQ Communications, said the new version reflects changing customer requirements around conferencing complexity and control.

"VQ Conference Manager 4.8 reflects how our customers' requirements are evolving. We're seeing increased demand for platforms that support complex conferencing environments while maintaining full control and resilience. This release focuses on simplifying operations while enhancing the capabilities organizations need to deliver secure, reliable communication at scale," he said.

VQ Conference Manager is the company's flagship platform, designed to extend Cisco Meeting Server and other Cisco collaboration infrastructure for organisations running managed conferencing services.

The inclusion of the Advanced Conferencing Centre in version 4.8 is the main functional addition in the release, alongside a broader push towards automation and failover improvements for customers managing sensitive conferencing operations.
