VIAVI rolls out market-first automated fibre optic test probe, INX 760
Fri, 15th Mar 2024

VIAVI Solutions Inc. has expanded its fibre optic test solutions portfolio with the market's first fully automated probe microscope, the INX 760. Capable of delivering the industry's fastest inspection and analysis of single, duplex and multi-fibre connectors in applications, it has a broad range of uses, from hyperscale data centres and metro-core construction to telco distribution and beyond.

The INX 760 automates every stage of the inspection process; from test set-up and tip configuration to focus of the image, analysis, and data storage. Innovatively, it employs interchangeable AutoID tips that automatically configure the probe for optimised inspection of various fibre connector types. In addition, the device's internal panoptic imaging engine delivers an edge-to-edge field of view without compromising on magnification or image resolution.

Technicians, network owners, and IT teams can streamline their field workflows, improve productivity, and increase visibility among project teams by connecting the INX 760 with the VIAVI TPA Test ecosystem. This synergy is critical to operational efficiency, given fibre contamination remains the leading cause of optical network failure and inspection is required wherever fibre is handled.

Kevin Oliver, Vice President and General Manager, Fiber and Access Solutions at VIAVI, pointed to broader trends in the industry to underscore the relevance and utility of the INX 760. "As the industry moves toward the use of specialised connectors for different applications, the INX 760 probe offers unique features that deliver thorough and repeatable results in seconds, in a way that is intuitive for experienced and new technicians alike," he said.

In addition to making field team operations faster, smarter, and easier, the INX 760 allows connectors to be certified to IEC-61300-3-35 and ensures fibre network performance. This is done in line with the decades of leadership experience of VIAVI in fibre inspection.

Highlighting the probe's position in the industry, the INX 760 was recently awarded the 2024 Lightwave Innovation Reviews Award in the Field Test Equipment category, scoring 4.5. This marks the eighth consecutive win for VIAVI, showcasing the recognition and esteem with which VIAVI's innovative thinking and product development is received in the telecommunications industry.
