Tangerine unveils new high speed NBN plans for regional areas

Wed, 28th Aug 2024

Australian telecommunications company Tangerine has introduced high speed Fixed Wireless National Broadband Network (NBN) plans to various regional areas across the country. This move positions Tangerine among the first telecommunications providers to offer such services in these regions, addressing the increasing demand for reliable internet connectivity outside urban centres.

Tangerine CEO Andrew Branson expressed enthusiasm about this development, stating, "Our team at Tangerine is thrilled to be among the first to bring high speed NBN Fixed Wireless plans to regional areas." Branson highlighted the company’s commitment to affordability and its understanding of regional needs, adding, “We’re especially pleased to offer our competitive plans to the families and businesses in these communities at a reasonable price.”

The introduction of these plans underscores the company's recognition of the growing necessity for robust internet services in regional Australia. Branson noted, "With some of our staff working 100% remotely from beautiful locations such as Mudgee, Ulladulla, and Robe, we truly understand the importance of affordable connectivity that fits within the budget." This statement reflects Tangerine's awareness of the critical role that internet access plays in education, healthcare, home businesses, and overcoming the barriers of distance in regional areas.

Tangerine offers three tiers of the Fixed Wireless plans under names reflecting their speed capabilities: FW Value Plus, FW Speedy, and FW SuperSpeedy. These plans are priced at AUD $82.90, AUD $85.90, and AUD $104.90 per month, respectively. New customers can avail honeymoon discounts, reducing the prices for the first six months to AUD $62.90, AUD $65.90, and AUD $84.90 per month accordingly.

The company has stressed its competitive edge in flexibility and customer service. "We are smaller, nimbler, simpler, and easier to deal with than other telcos," said Andrew Branson, emphasising the company's ability to rapidly respond to customer needs. Branson, who founded the company with his brother Rich Branson, underscored their mission to provide faster and affordable internet, particularly beneficial for regions highly dependent on technology.

Tangerine also plans to increase its visibility in these regions through a marketing campaign featuring their mascot Peely on billboards, aiming to familiarise these communities with Tangerine and its services. “Locals can keep an eye out for Tangerine’s mascot Peely, who will shortly appear on billboards through the regions introducing the Tangerine brand of simple internet to the community,” stated the company.

Customer service remains a priority for Tangerine, with representatives available via live chat 24/7 and a dedicated phone line during support hours. The company invites current and potential customers to discuss their internet and mobile needs, particularly the new Fixed Wireless plans.

Tangerine's efforts to provide high-speed internet services in regional areas come at a time when the reliance on digital connectivity has never been greater. The added competition in the telecommunications market may encourage further advancements and improvements in service delivery, benefiting all regional internet users.
