Superloop named Australia’s fastest fixed network by Ookla in 2025
Superloop has been recognised as Australia's fastest fixed network by Ookla for the first half of 2025 based on nationwide consumer speed tests.
Ookla assigns its Speedtest Awards using hundreds of thousands of consumer-initiated internet speed tests, evaluating download and upload performance alongside latency. Between January and June 2025, Superloop received the highest speed score among all fixed network providers in the country, surpassing its competitors on network throughput and responsiveness.
Speed recognition
The Speedtest Award is informed by Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data and covers a six-month period. The data collection methodology combines core network performance indicators to determine a composite score, which is then compared across participating service providers.
Stephen Bye, President and Chief Executive at Ookla, commented on the result, stating, "We are proud to recognise Superloop for winning the Speedtest Award for Fastest Fixed Network in Australia for the Q1-Q2 2025 award period. This accolade is a testament to their industry leadership performance, as proven by Ookla's methodology."
The findings reflect consumer reports of faster speeds and lower latency, further establishing Superloop's place in the competitive fixed broadband market.
Campaign launch
To mark the recognition, Superloop has launched a new advertising campaign featuring the return of Sunny, the character from the company's 2024 brand advertisement. The campaign was developed through partnerships with creative agencies Leo and Zenith Australia, with direction by Jim Hosking.
"What we love about this campaign is that the idea really originated with Superloop customers. We see them in the forums and the comment sections sharing their Superloop experience - their speeds and reliability – with others, so we unleashed Sunny to do the same," says Superloop CMO, Ben Colman.
The campaign's narrative focuses on current customers sharing their experiences with neighbours and local communities, echoing broader consumer sentiment about service speeds and network reliability.
Company performance
The award announcement coincides with Superloop reporting what it describes as record market share gains for the financial year to date. The company announced that its revenue is up 31% to AUD $546 million, underlying EBITDA has risen 70% to AUD $92.2 million, and customer numbers have reached 731,000.
In reference to the company's operating philosophy and recent growth, Superloop Chief Executive, Paul Tyler, said, "We've grown fast because we've always viewed what we do at Superloop as enabling an experience, not just offering a service. Fast, reliable, secure internet is what powers work, study, play, connection, and unlimited possibilities.
"We've worked hard to make the Superloop experience feel different. We've focused on delivering the high speeds that Australians deserve, and we've coupled that with award-winning, first-to-market innovations that genuinely make home and business internet super."
Broadband market context
Superloop's award from Ookla is based on a methodology distinct from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's 'Measuring Broadband Australia' program. The Ookla approach foregrounds direct consumer activity through the Speedtest platform, measuring real-world outcomes across a diverse set of devices and geographic locations.
The campaign to celebrate the award runs across a suite of television commercials and digital content, aligning with the company's current efforts to increase visibility and communicate performance to Australian households and businesses.
Superloop is present in several market segments, providing connectivity to consumer, business, and wholesale clients. The company leverages physical network infrastructure such as fibre, subsea cables and fixed wireless, alongside proprietary software platforms, to deliver its services to hundreds of thousands of clients each day.
