More wins MVNO Start-Up of the Year at global awards

Tue, 23rd Jul 2024

Australian telco More was recognised as the Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) Start-Up of the Year at the recent global awards ceremony held in Brussels, Belgium. An MVNO is an operator that offers mobile services using the network infrastructure owned by another operator under its own brand.

More, based in Melbourne, launched its mobile services in October 2022. According to the MVNO World Congress judges, the company was commended for its use of integrated marketing and customer channels to spur growth and enhance customer attraction and retention. This effort capitalised on its strategic relationship with Commonwealth Bank (CommBank).

Andrew Branson, Chief Executive Officer of More, expressed pride in the recognition, noting that the accolade highlighted the effectiveness of their market strategy. "The industry's competition is intense, not just in Australia but globally. While we benefited from CommBank’s brand trust, our strategy from the very beginning has aimed to expand our profile, customer base, and marketing identity to distinguish ourselves in the market," he said.

CommBank is one of Australia’s largest home lenders and is a common choice for young Australians for daily banking needs. "Our campaign effectively targeted three main groups: families with mortgages, price-conscious small business owners, and young adults who need data for university and travel," Branson explained.

He further praised the team’s efforts: "This win credits the team and shows that we are leading in the global market and the Australian market. We are on track for even bigger achievements."

Since its launch, More has actively pursued a leadership role in new demographics through its youth-targeted campaigns and competitive offerings. The company has been actively engaging with students during University Orientation Weeks across Australia.

Additionally, More is among the few MVNOs in Australia to offer an eSIM. Customers can also purchase travel packs that provide additional data allowances and extended roaming durations in 65 international locations.

The MVNO World Congress is a significant event within the industry, with judges comprising stakeholders from vendors, peak body groups, regulators, and industry leaders.

CommBank customers can manage their More NBN accounts directly within the CommBank app, offering a streamlined and convenient user experience. More’s NBN plans come with no lock-in contracts and round-the-clock technical support. The mobile plans, utilising the Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network, offer unlimited standard calls and SMS without lock-in contracts.

More is the exclusive telecommunications provider for the CommBank Yello program. This partnership has also earned the telco Canstar Blue’s 2024 Innovation Excellence Award for integrating with the CommBank Yello initiative.
