Yurika launches sovereign cloud service for Australia
Mon, 15th Jun 2026 (Today)
Yurika Telecoms has launched a Sovereign Cloud Virtualisation Service with RackCorp that keeps virtual machine workloads within Australia.
The service is aimed at organisations that want to run cloud infrastructure in Australian data centres while connecting those systems through Yurika's telecommunications network.
Customers can deploy virtual machines across 11 data centres in seven Australian cities, with single-site, multi-site and hybrid options. Users can manage compute, storage, databases and networking resources through Yurika's OneStack portal.
The offering is designed for government agencies, utilities, mining groups, financial services firms and managed service providers reviewing older virtualisation systems. It is intended to help organisations move workloads without maintaining physical hardware or relying on overseas public cloud platforms.
Regulated sectors
The service is intended for regulated and critical environments where data residency and compliance are important procurement factors. Yurika cited use cases including operational technology and field systems, data centre refresh projects, and shared services across multiple teams with controlled access.
The launch comes as Australian organisations face tighter scrutiny over where data is stored and who controls infrastructure. RackCorp linked the service to the Whole-of-Government Cloud Computing Policy, which it said takes effect in July 2026.
Pricing is based on monthly usage rather than per-core software licensing. Yurika said the model can cut costs by more than 50% compared with traditional VMware virtualisation licensing and may be cheaper than comparable hyperscaler consumption.
Yurika is also offering infrastructure assessments, proof-of-concept trials and hybrid arrangements that link on-premises systems with cloud resources. Existing customers can extend their current connectivity into the managed cloud environment.
Tony Riley, General Manager, Yurika Telecoms and Digital at Yurika Telecoms, said many organisations are reassessing how they host virtual machines.
"Rising software renewal costs, power constraints and the effort required to maintain infrastructure are driving change. This service helps customers modernise virtual machine environments in a way that is transparent, secure and directly connected to our networks. It extends the trusted relationships we already have with customers into managed cloud services."
RackCorp provides the underlying cloud platform for the service. The company operates more than 35 data centres across 25 cities in 16 countries and focuses on sovereign cloud infrastructure for regulated sectors and government users.
Stephen Dendtler, Chief Technology Officer, RackCorp, said, "With the Whole-of-Government Cloud Computing Policy coming into effect from July 2026, agencies need a clear and achievable transition path. RackCorp manages the cloud platform and compliance complexity, while Yurika delivers integrated connectivity and local support. Together, this provides a sovereign cloud service that is simple to adopt and operate."
Yurika Telecoms is part of Energy Queensland and supplies telecommunications, data centres, IoT and analytics services to government, utilities and enterprise customers across Australia. The launch adds managed cloud virtualisation to that portfolio, with domestic hosting central to its pitch to buyers in sensitive and regulated markets.
