Teletrac Navman launches new tools for fleet decarbonisation

Tue, 21st May 2024

Connected mobility solutions vendor Teletrac Navman has unveiled significant updates to its alternative energy product portfolio, aimed at facilitating the transition of vehicle fleets from internal combustion engines (ICE) to multi-fuel capabilities. The company introduced its Electric Vehicle Evaluator (EVE) platform and a new Sustainability Dashboard, both designed to support fleet managers in their decarbonisation efforts.

The EVE platform is an electric vehicle (EV) transition tool that leverages telematics data and predictive analytics to assist fleet managers in planning, implementing, and tracking their transition to electric vehicles. Mayank Sharma, Head of Global Product Management & UX at Teletrac Navman, highlighted the challenges faced by fleets worldwide in adopting low-carbon energy solutions efficiently and cost-effectively. "Fleets all over the globe are facing pressures to change to low carbon energy types in an efficient and cost-effective way, without disrupting business operations – it can be overwhelming. We have designed EVE to help fleet managers navigate the journey to alternative energy by simplifying what can be a very complex process," said Sharma.

The EVE platform provides intelligence for transition planning across three key areas: Feasibility Planning, Financial Planning, and Infrastructure Design. The Feasibility Planning tool helps identify which vehicles are suitable for transition based on trip and cargo data and determines the optimal battery and charger types to use. The Financial Planning element offers a detailed cost analysis of the total cost of ownership (TCO) between EV and ICE vehicles, helping managers decide which vehicles would be more cost-effective to transition.

Additionally, the Infrastructure Design tool models the most efficient charging infrastructure to support the transition plan. This tool can factor in various conditions such as weather, charger powers, site charge fuse limits, and base load variations, enabling fleets to build a customised infrastructure that maintains business continuity.

Complementing the launch of EVE is the new Sustainability Dashboard, which enables fleet managers to monitor progress against their decarbonisation targets. The dashboard provides a score out of 100, giving managers a clear view of their progress and simplifying both internal and external reporting on their emissions and fuel cost savings. It also integrates data from individual vehicles to identify areas for improvement in driver performance that can impact emissions.

The Sustainability Dashboard will be accessible through Teletrac Navman’s AI-powered TN360 fleet management platform, serving as a single interface for fleet operations and integrations with multiple business units.

Sharma emphasised the importance of trustworthy support in the decarbonisation process, citing the company's recent TS24 telematics survey. "Our recent TS24 telematics survey found fleets need trustworthy support when it comes to decarbonisation. Our experts are always available to guide fleets through their transition, and to also ensure they’re making the most of the solutions they’ve employed, through ongoing support, tailored guidance and data reviews," he added.
