Semperis expands in Australia after USD $125m funding

Today

Semperis has announced its expansion efforts in Australia, highlighting its commitment to enhancing cyber resilience across the region.

Following a funding round of USD $125 million in June 2024, Semperis has intensified its focus on the Australian market, achieving over 100% annual growth and forming new partnerships within the ANZ region. Key partners include Katana1, CyberCX, Kirra Services, Perfekt, and NextGen, reinforcing support for industries such as financial services, telecommunications, and education.

The latest Semperis Ransomware Risk Report underscores the challenges facing Australian businesses, reporting that 83% of organisations targeted by ransomware have paid a ransom, with 74% experiencing repeated attacks. Such statistics have prompted Australian companies to adopt more proactive identity security measures.

"With online attacks now occurring every six minutes, cybercrime in Australia has surged by 23%, resulting in average losses of $71,600 per scam in 2022-2023 alone," said Mickey Bresman, CEO of Semperis. He emphasised that this increase in threats drives more companies towards proactive security measures focusing on identity management.

In 2025, Semperis plans to significantly expand its presence in the Asia Pacific region, targeting strategic growth in Australia. The company has reported triple-digit revenue growth and has expanded partnerships by over 100%, securing distribution agreements in countries such as India, South Korea, and Taiwan. To meet the growing demand, Semperis aims to double its local workforce in 2025.

Gerry Sillars, Managing Director of Semperis, stated, "With the increasing sophistication of identity-driven cyber attacks, more Australian organisations are looking at ways to strengthen their cybersecurity postures. By focusing on identity management as the new security perimeter, we help Australian companies to proactively identify, halt, and rectify attacks and rapidly recover in the event of a disaster."

The company has bolstered its leadership with the appointment of former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull as a Strategic Advisor. Turnbull will contribute his extensive experience in cybersecurity and strategic technology implementation to guide Semperis' growth initiatives in Australia. "The rise of identity-centric cyber threats has underscored the need for proactive solutions that go beyond traditional cybersecurity measures," said Turnbull. "I am looking forward to working with Semperis in expanding its presence in Australia, empowering organisations to stay ahead of evolving threats and build a robust cyber resilience framework."

As part of its ongoing efforts to address the skills gap in cybersecurity, Semperis is launching certified training programmes for pre-sales engineers starting January 2025, focusing on identity security skills development. These programmes aim to enhance capabilities in the local workforce, particularly benefiting the healthcare and financial services sectors.
