Marking the start of Yarrabah's digital overhaul by Indara
Yarrabah residents are looking forward to a landmark project promising faster, more reliable, and more efficient internet and mobile connection services. The mobile tower site, a major step towards bridging Yarrabah's digital divide, is scheduled for completion later in the year.
The telecommunications project is led by Indara, the Australia digital infrastructure provider. Yarrabah, a part of the Aboriginal Shire of the Gunggandji people, is situated 30 kilometres east of Cairns. Historically, the town has dealt with major telecommunication issues, including intermittent internet and connectivity problems.
This initiative by Indara Digital Infrastructure is welcomed by Yarrabah's residents, who are looking forward to a dramatic shift in their internet and mobile connectivity. The company has pledged to supply the coastal town with wireless connectivity via their state-of-the-art digital infrastructure services. The construction of the new site will begin on the 14th of May, with the project completion date set for October 2024.
The CEO of Indara, Cameron Evans, remarked, "Providing connectivity to Yarrabah is exactly what Indara stands for – assisting the acceleration of a digitised future for all communities."
Emphasising the company's commitment to facilitating frictionless connectivity, Evans added, "We are honoured to be able to support the Yarrabah community with wireless connectivity both in terms of coverage and capacity."
Indara is recognised for its rapidly expanding portfolio of more than 4,700 digital infrastructure sites, in addition to several hundred new sites under construction. The digital infrastructure giant finds its roots in the partnership of AustralianSuper and Singtel, focused on expediting the digitisation of Australia and bringing connectivity services to communities.
With the initiation of this major project, the residents of Yarrabah are well on their way to enjoying the benefits of reliable and efficient internet and mobile connection, a critical component in today's increasingly digital age. While the project brings immense excitement for the community, it also instils confidence in the capabilities of digital providers like Indara to bridge the digital divide in remote and under-connected parts of the country.
