CyberPower has launched its Professional Rackmount Series of uninterruptible power supplies in Australia, with six models that include built-in cloud monitoring.

The updated line is aimed at businesses protecting IT systems such as servers, networking equipment, storage, communications infrastructure and surveillance systems. Each model includes a Remote Cloud Card as standard, allowing users to monitor UPS status and operating conditions without buying a separate add-on card.

Robert Hartvigsen, General Manager ANZ at CyberPower Systems Oceania, said the range was designed to meet rising demand for both backup power and visibility of protected equipment.

"The new Professional Rackmount Series was built to meet growing demand for reliable power protection and remote monitoring of business-critical IT infrastructure," said Robert Hartvigsen, General Manager ANZ at CyberPower Systems Oceania.

He said the growing use of connected systems had increased the need for remote visibility as well as protection against power disruption.

"As businesses become more reliant on connected systems, they need solutions that provide both dependable backup power and greater visibility of their equipment. By integrating a Remote Cloud Card into every model, we are delivering a more convenient and accessible answer for businesses looking to simplify UPS monitoring and management," said Hartvigsen.

The series covers output ratings from 1000W to 3000W. Two standard models, the PR1000ERT2UC and PR1500ERT2UC, provide 1000VA/1000W and 1500VA/1500W respectively, while four XL variants extend the range at 1000VA/1000W, 1500VA/1500W, 2000VA/2000W and 3000VA/3000W.

Model range

The main difference between the standard and XL models is battery expansion. The XL units support additional battery expansion for applications that need longer runtime, which may suit server rooms and network installations where shutdown windows are limited.

"That is the standout feature and it is the one that changes the buying decision," said Hartvigsen. "A UPS can be commissioned and brought under monitoring in a single step instead of two separate purchases. Combined with a Unity Power Factor, a space-efficient 2U design, flexible rackmount or tower installation and hot-swappable batteries, the range delivers an impressive combination of performance, convenience and manageability."

All six models have a Unity Power Factor, meaning the quoted wattage is fully available across the range. In practical terms, that allows buyers to size a unit against the actual load rather than a reduced usable output that can apply with lower power factor products.

Hartvigsen said the XL variants also give customers room to add load later without replacing the unit.

"The XL models provide additional battery expansion options for applications requiring extended runtime," said Hartvigsen. "With six models ranging from 1000W to 3000W, customers can choose the capacity that gives them room to grow rather than sizing tightly to today's load. Buying headroom up front is the cheaper path for most businesses, because the extra capacity sits ready for whatever gets added to the rack next, with no need to replace the unit when requirements increase."

Installation options

All models use a 2U form factor and support both rackmount and tower installation. That gives buyers a single product option for deployment in a communications rack or in smaller office settings where equipment may be installed vertically.

The units also include a rotatable colour LCD for status and operating information in either orientation. The line uses pure sine wave output for sensitive electronics and Automatic Voltage Regulation to manage fluctuations in incoming supply.

Maintenance is another focus of the new range. The batteries are hot-swappable, allowing replacement without taking connected equipment offline.

"Batteries can be replaced without shutting down connected equipment, which removes the maintenance window that would otherwise be needed and takes away the risk that a routine service becomes an outage," said Hartvigsen.

The range is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, enterprise IT departments, managed service providers, IT resellers and system integrators. It also includes PowerPanel software for monitoring and management alongside the cloud-based connection.

For service providers managing multiple customer sites, built-in connectivity could reduce the need to discover battery failures or overloaded units only after a disruption. Resellers and integrators, meanwhile, can work from a single UPS family with a consistent feature set and a clear progression in capacity.

"The applications are the ones that hurt most when power fails," said Hartvigsen. "Servers, networking equipment, storage systems, communications infrastructure and surveillance systems all depend on clean, continuous power and all of them benefit from an operator knowing the state of their protection before something goes wrong."

CyberPower is offering a three-year advanced replacement warranty covering both the UPS units and their batteries.
