Vonage & SAP join forces to advance generative AI solutions

Thu, 12th Sep 2024

Vonage has announced a new collaboration with SAP aimed at exploring generative AI and advanced use cases through the integration of Vonage's Application Programming Interface (API) platform and SAP Business AI.

The partnership seeks to enhance enterprise intelligence by delivering detailed business insights and immersive digital experiences.

Vonage will provide SAP with access to its Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), which includes APIs such as Quality-on-Demand (QoD), Device Location, and Number Verification. The QoD API is designed to enable businesses to deliver real-time experiences across a range of applications, including extended reality and autonomous vehicles, according to the company statement.

By using Vonage's Device Location and Number Verification APIs, SAP aims to deliver an enhanced authentication experience, potentially lowering the risk of fraud for its customers. Additionally, the Device Location API, combined with the Internet of Things (IoT), is intended to improve asset tracking and fleet management by leveraging network-based location data, the release indicates.

Michael Ameling, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer of SAP Business Technology Platform, commented on the collaboration: "We are delighted to partner with Vonage to revolutionise the use of SAP Business AI across the API landscape. This collaboration opens a world of possibilities for developers and businesses, empowering them to innovate and succeed like never before. Our partnership is not just about cutting-edge generative AI innovation but about redefining the future, with network API integration and transformation. Together, we bring a blend of expertise, next-generation technology, and a shared vision towards customer value."

Seckin Arikan, Head of Business Unit API for Vonage, echoed a similar sentiment: "We are excited to announce our partnership with SAP to power innovative new capabilities with communications and network APIs coupled with SAP Business AI. With the increasing demands in customer expectations, businesses need to pivot their approach to designing and delivering more secure and enhanced engagement experiences for their customers and employees and become data-driven organisations set for success -- and they need to do it faster and easier than before. Together, we aim to make new capabilities available that can help developers create new applications for enterprises to reimagine their business, improve customer experiences, and create new communications and engagement capabilities."

Vonage's CPaaS platform is designed to enable over 1.6 million developers to embed communication functionalities into applications, systems, and workflows via its suite of communications APIs, which include voice, video, messaging, and verification tools. Additionally, the platform offers a range of low-code and no-code programmable components to facilitate the development of applications, making it simpler and quicker for developers to integrate such capabilities.

With Ericsson's expertise in mobile networks, Vonage plans to extend its platform to enable the development of advanced, secure, and reliable applications by exposing 5G capabilities as network APIs. These APIs include SIM Swap, Device Status, and Number Verification, which are essential for combating fraud, as well as Device Location Verification and Quality on Demand APIs, aimed at improving connectivity and engagement for enterprise clients.
